Read on for his fly-on-the-wall backstage report!</i> <b>LOS ANGELES</b> — "The X Factor" top seven are back on the lot after their first (and only) mini-vacation of the season. And as the Thanksgiving tryptophan wears off, the anxiety of another double elimination is setting in. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:714741" width="240" height="211"></div><p> Adding to the stress? "The X Factor" is tackling the songs of <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/jackson_michael/artist.jhtml">Michael Jackson</a> on Wednesday night (November 30), on the 29th anniversary of <i>Thriller</i>'s release, no less. One of the contestants is so stressed over the theme he's emerged as a total perfectionist. During Monday's rehearsals, he had already nixed multiple arrangements the show had provided him. "This is the most unprepared I've felt on a Monday," he said to his mentor as they rushed out of Stage 36. There was a camera crew chasing them to capture the drama — as well as the ensuing late-night emergency meeting with the vocal coaches — so don't be surprised if some of this intense footage ends up in your living room. (This afternoon's dress rehearsal went swimmingly, for the record.) Meanwhile, one contestant had a full-on battle with his/her mentor over a chair. The mentor said, "Sit and sing." The contestant said, "Again?! How about I do something on my feet for Michael Jackson week?" Another mentor came to the defense of the contestant. In the end, the contestant is sitting after all. Don't worry, contestant. The eerie arrangement of an MJ classic is what folks are going to be buzzing about. No one will care if you sit or stand. In the control room, I spied one of the bigwigs utter the word "brilliant!" after the contestant's dress rehearsal. Another hot topic: wardrobe! When paying homage to one of the biggest music icons ever, it's tempting for the stylists to include clothing nods to Michael's various looks. But several singers are worried they'll look too much like Jackson impersonators, which has caused many a headache in the wardrobe trailer. But stylist June Ambrose is still able to keep things light in the midst of the drama. While waiting around for a contestant's last-minute fitting, she started an impromptu MJ dance party on the lot. Crotch grabs and "woo" included! Lastly, Paula Abdul's sunny energy has been noticeably absent on the CBS lot now that all her groups have been eliminated. She went from being the most hands-on mentor to an on-set ghost. "The X Factor" family can't wait to welcome her back for her first live show as strictly a judge. MMA is a dangerous sport. The kicks, punches, chokes, armbars, kneebars, calf slicers and all the rest make it a sport not for the faint-hearted. But all the dangers and difficulties in MMA usually come from opponents, not the cage the two are fighting in.
In Kentucky this weekend, the cage got the win. Skip to the 1:27 point in the video.
Brandon Bishop and Braedon Ward crashed through a faulty cage door in the co-main event at Hardrock MMA 43 on Saturday. The fall appeared to knock both men out, but as the video shows, they both walked away on their own. A hinge in the cage door had been damage earlier in the evening, but the staff though it was fixed. The fight was called a no-contest, and according to the notes for the video, both fighters received their win bonuses.
The playing surface getting involved in the game is not unique to MMA, as it happens in every sport. Michael Irvin and Wendell Davis both suffered career-ending injuries in football thanks to the poorly-done AstroTurf at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia. Gus Frerotte’s neck was injured after he celebrated a touchdown by headbutting a wall at Jack Kent Cooke Stadium. Mickey Mantle’s legendary career was almost stopped before it started because he tore his ACL when his foot was caught on a drainage ditch at Yankee Stadium during his rookie year.
It’s even prevalent at the college levels, as Houston’s Patrick Edwards suffered a nasty broken leg when he ran into a cart just past the end zone. At this year’s Carrier Classic, Michigan State’s Branden Dawson tweaked his ankle on the court’s slippery logo. Two football coaches implied that University of Missouri’s Faurot Field was to blame when two different players had season-ending knee injuries.
So even in the best circumstances, playing surfaces fail the players they are supposed to support. Luckily, both fighters were able to walk away from the fights.

<P><a href="/music/artist/_kesha_/artist.jhtml">Ke$ha</a>'s already got the face paint down pat, and, during recent live sets, she's even taken to <a href="http://www.popeater.com/2011/03/17/kesha-drinks-blood-during-performance" target="_blank">guzzling blood</a> out of a human heart, so it should come as no surprise that, on her upcoming album, the pop star is taking things back to the most <i>theatrical</i> era of rock: the prop-heavy, arena-spanning heyday of the 1970s. Ke$h revealed her plans over the weekend in Los Angeles, on the red carpet of KIIS FM's annual <a href="/news/articles/1663909/wango-tango-britney-spears-kesha.jhtml">Wango Tango</a> concert, where she told MTV News that the follow-up to her breakout <i>Animal</i> album (and, we suppose, <a href="/news/articles/1652714/kehas-cannibal-a-cheat-sheet.jhtml"><i>Cannibal</i></a> too) would be heavy on hard riffs and light on pretty much <i>everything</i> else. </p><div class="player-placeholder right" id="vid:652875" width="240" height="211"></div><p> "The next album … I've been working on writing on the road, but as far as a sound, I just know it's gonna be balls-out, irreverent rock and roll," she said. "I've been pretty much in this '70s rock and roll kick and I just want to capture some of the true essence of what rock and roll is, and that's just irreverence and sexiness and fun and not giving a f—, so we'll definitely put a bit of rock and roll in it." So, does that mean that fans can expect the likes of Alice Cooper or Peter Frampton to show up on her new album? Perhaps. Because while Ke$ha's new album is still a ways off, she's already begun calling in favors, hoping to line up a killer collabo for the new disc. "I'm trying, trust me," she laughed. If you fight for fairness in INA, then it is joke. For example, if you are a spouse of us citizen you will be given GC immediatly, (no numarical limit). However, if you a researcher from India, develops medicine for AIDS and applied NIW EB2 petition, there is no visa availble for forseeable future. You can say it is unfair. But government dont care. One cannot argue why they have E2 visa for specialy for Australians? Why not for Newzlanders? Why they have special quota in H1B for singaporans and Chilians?. If any one asks fairness question it is end less. For example in guest worker program in last year, they eliminated country quota (to legalise mexican unskilled-undocumented workers).
Fair Bussiness that needs skilled foreign workes dont care about country of birth of workers. But it is sad that INA, prevent that fairness. But government has its own agenda. 1. If the outsourcing companies would pay on an avg at 80K per head for the "well qualified" people, I am even ok with their dumping their dumping the L1s here. Why is it that you guys are ok with the L1s being dumped at 40K-60K salaries ? Shouldn’t they get paid high too ? This is what I am arguing for. If the outsourcing cos don’t want to pay this rate, then keep them in the country of origin. No need to depress wages here. Is this a wrong thing to ask ?

Where did you get that 80k number? You think 80k is good salary for that job, someone else may say 65k, I may say 90k. The salary, among other things, is determined by market forces. If you can’t find enough people with xyz then company will be forced to offer more.
As long as there are people who are ready to work on salary 52k (example), employer will not pay 70k. As long as employer is following all the legal requirements, no one can dictate salary for the job.
I am a US citizen of Indian origin with background in Computer Science, Finance, and Business Laws. I have been in this country for 11+ years and I have seen so many changes in tech world. Nobody talks of sign-on bonus on H1B anymore. I am dot net architect and I am seeing lot of competition for jobs and this is causing downtrend pressure on salary. But, instead of, blaming someone else for the competition, I am taking it head on. We need to keep working on our skillset and employer will pay the salary. Like they say, for the right candidate salary is not a constraint.
Let us not forget our struggling days of H1. The least, we can do, is to encourage our fellow immigrants who are waiting for their green cards.

Campaign: “The Ultimate Driving Machine”
What We Like: There is no joy in Bimmerville. Not any more. In truth, BMW has not really been advertising “Joy of Driving,” or “Joy” anything, for about a year. It had already returned to using the world’s best ad slogan, “The Ultimate Driving Machine,” after many months of defending “Joy,” as well as some executive changes. But a new ad effort for the all-new 3 Series puts UDM center stage again in a way that underscores the company’s commitment to an ad slogan everyone seems to love.
There are six video shorts running mostly on the web, but also as TV ads. In fact, one of the shorts, touting the car’s system that reads email aloud to the driver, ran as a local ad during the Super Bowl. Each “short” ad, which focuses on a single feature of the car, ends with a hunky-sounding voiceover asserting with no doubt in his voice: “We only make one thing. The Ultimate Driving Machine.”
BMW has a raft of new products coming this year and next, as well as rolling out two complex platforms of technology – EfficientDynamics and BMW ConnectDrive. It seems like a good idea to spotlight one product benefit per ad the way this campaign does, and have each play off a few bigger TV ads for the 3 Series that focus on the image of the whole car, and its reputation as the best sports sedan in the world.
What We Don’t Like: The focus on individual features like a heated steering wheel, adjustable seats or emails read aloud in the car seems more Volkswagen than BMW. The voiceover sounds like he drinks whiskey, but the overall feel of the ads and the focus on “fun features” feels more Brandy Alexander.
We note that Cadillac advertised its soon-to-be launched ATS sedan during the Super Bowl, and referred to the 3 Series as “The best in the world.” We are looking for more ads from BMW’s new ad agency that have some guts, majesty and the faint aroma of burning rubber and brake dust.
Strategy: BMW seems to shy away form the guts, grit and red-blooded desire for a great driving machine that is the heart of its brand image. Yeah, yeah… we know… women are looking for a more approachable BMW. Married men need for their wives to bless the Bimmer purchase. And this collection of video shorts is a step in the right direction. A 30-second ad that shows us the 3 Series zipping around city streets and hairpin turns is even a bigger step as the TV spot also spotlights the 3′s surprising 36 mpg highway few economy. We’d still like to see BMW guts and glory show a nit more often.

General Motors will freeze the defined benefit pension plans of 19,000 workers on Sept. 30, 2012, shifting them instead into 401(k) plans. Affected workers were all hired before 2001 and are salaried employees. Hourly workers are not affected by this change.
Because the retirement plans will be frozen, contributions will no longer be accepted into them; however, any funds contributed prior to that date will remain intact and will be paid out upon the worker’s retirement.
GM has hired around 7,000 salaried employees since 2001, but these workers will not be affected because they were entered into a 401(k) plan right off the bat in lieu of the old pension program. CNN reports GM made the switch to shift investment liabilities from the company its employees.
General Motors has announced its full-year earnings for 2011, and by nearly all measures performed extremely well. Apparently, though, its old pension plan remains 88-percent underfunded, and it remains to be seen how the company will deal with that issue.

Cars get their names from a wide variety of sources: animals, places, the founders of the company that makes them… Some, of course, have completely meaningless names concocted by marketing departments, or bear alphanumeric codes that show where they stand in the company’s line-up. But this car was named for a king.
The young King Alfonso XIII of Spain was an early gentleman driver, motoring enthusiast and patron of Hispano-Suiza. He was such a fan, in fact, that he owned a good 30 of them, and drove them around Europe. The company, honored by his patronage, named its Type 15T in his honor: Type Alfonso XIII.
Few such examples, rare as they are, ever change hands, but the example you see here is destined for the auction block when RM Auctions sets up shop March 10 at Amelia Island. This 1913 model – chassis # 718 – is one of only four built, and packs a 3.6-liter inline four with 64 horsepower – not much by today’s standards, but a veritable supercar in its time, capable of hitting a top speed of 80 miles an hour. It’s also got more patina to it than an antique shop, but that’s not all: it also comes with two bodies, one for the winter (pictured here) and open coachwork that could be installed for the summer.
It’s expected to fetch between $750,000 and a cool million when the hammer drops, but if that’s not entirely within your budget, you can check it out in the gallery of high-resolution images above, along with the auctioneer’s description after the jump.
